Log in to your UniFi Network Controller (cloud or local).
On the left panel, go to Settings ⚙️.
Under Settings, select Networks.
Click Create New Network.
Fill in the details:
Name → e.g., "VLAN20-Staff"
Purpose → select Corporate (for normal LAN use) or Guest (for isolated guest networks).
VLAN ID → enter your VLAN number (e.g., 20).
Gateway / Subnet → define if this VLAN should have DHCP handled by the UniFi gateway.
Example: 192.168.20.1/24
DHCP Mode → choose:
DHCP Server (if UniFi gateway will serve IPs),
None (if an external DHCP server will handle IPs).
(Optional) Set Advanced Options like:
IGMP Snooping
DHCP Guarding
DNS Servers
Click Save ✅
After creating the VLAN network:
For Wired Devices → Go to Settings > Profiles > Switch Ports, and assign the port profile to include your new VLAN.
For Wi-Fi SSIDs → Go to Settings > WiFi, edit or create an SSID, enable Use VLAN, and enter the VLAN ID.
⚡ Tip: Make sure your router/switch supports VLANs and that trunk ports are configured if you’re tagging VLANs between switches.
